Hi, looking to buy and A3 Sport 140. Currently got a Golf PD150 which is remapped, not sure whether I'll regret the downgrade in power or not yet!!!

Cheers. No doubt the A3 will get mapped at some point!

PS if there is a A3 buyers guide somewhere can someone point me to it. I haven't come across one yet.

Welcome to the forum. There's no A3 buying guide (yet) I'm afraid...it was something I kept meaning to do but never got the time. What sort of year are you looking at? Early 140s (some of them anyway) suffered porous cylinder heads so check the oil filler cap.

The mapped 140 engine is great - you won't get a big "bang" of boost, they're just nice and smooth. Should see somewhere around 180-190bhp, and keep the torque below 300lbft if you value your clutch ( I ran mine at 191bhp/283lbft for 4 years and almost 80000 miles with no issues ).

Probably a facelift 2005 model. Main focus is low mileage/good condition. Going to look at my first one tomorrow morning. I'll make sure I check out the filler cap.

    Cheers.

What map was that? Did you map it from new?

On the golf I went for the highest power off the shelf one at the time (chipped UK) at 207bhp, can't remember the torque figure. I was expecting the clutch to go at some point but it slipped in the first week! Lesson learned.

Ran Superchips from 7000 miles ie 4 months old albeit on a mk5 Golf. I'd say that massive power and torque figures are great for pub talk but rubbish on the wallet so get the mapper to turn it down a bit.
