Hi guys, ive bought the Innotec turbo cleaner and am trying to put it through the trubo.

Only problem is that every guide ive read says remove 3 bolts holding the exhaust to the turbo, but when i had a look yesterday i couldnt see any bolts just a jubille clip holding the exhaust to the turbo.

Anybody have any experience with the turbo on a A3 2.0 TDI 2005, and could give me any help?

Heres a picture from the instruction manual, theres the 3 bolts and the exhaust on the side.

I'm not certain but I think its the petrols that have the exhaust bolted to the turbo, while the diesel is just clipped on with a sort of jubilee clip like you've said.

As Sam says mate i think could have the big jubilee clip but i think on some diesels they still have the 3 bolt fixing

I'd be tempted to ring your a dealer and say you've got a turbo problem and your thinking of bringing it in for them to look at, then say something daft like "is the turbo the bit that is jubilee clipped to the exhaust??!" pretend you know nothing! They will then tell you if your right or wrong.....

I honestly don't know myself, all I do know is mine (petrol) is bolted.

    Good luck mate

hmmmm are you sure that the intake side of the turbo is the side that has the rubber pipe and a jubilee clip on it, and the exhaust side has the 3 bolts going onto the down pipe?

Just cant imagine that amount of pressure and heat being held by a jubilee..

Well i just had another look and it turns out its is just held on by jubilee clip, even after undoing the clip i wasn't able to free it from the turbo, might have to remove a whole load of the exhaust to get to it. And then find a way of putting the Innotec turbo cleaner in and keeping it there for a while since there's no gasket and bolts.Confused

Ive found out how to remove the exhaust from the turbo on the uk-mkivs forum and will be attempting it tommorow. If anybody would like i could document my attemp at removing the turbo and using the Innotec cleaner (if everything goes to plan)?

Yes that would be great if you could put something together, was thinking on doing this job myself so it would be a huge benefit to know the steps.

Just out of interest where did you buy the cleaner from and what miles are on your motor?

    Cheers

Bought the cleaner off here, their online ordering service isn't working properly at the moment so i just called them, free next day delivery for £40.

Ive currently got 82,000 miles on it.

R-tech can also clean the turbo for you for £100 all in if you dont want to do it yourself, im too far away to go visit so will DIY it.

Looks like you'd better eat your hat Steve lol. Its not technically a jubilee clip, but a similar system of a clip to hold the exhaust to the turbo is quite common now on newer diesels, can make it a pig to actually remove the exhaust from the turbo though so I have no idea why they switched from bolts to a clip, and only on diesels.

lol it's not really a jubilee though.... I reckon my 1987 record is still in tact!

I was recommended this after i had my car scanned and found out it overboosted (had gone into limp mode twice before), my car was also boosting at 3000rpm, should be 2000. The bloke that recommended it to me said his car also had the same problem but after the cleaner it was boosting as it should. So instead of getting a new turbo i though i would give this a go first.

    Nope just doing the turbo.
