That's ok.  At the back of the roof trim, there's a 5" wide strip that just pops off - it will reveal some connectors.  Ignition off - check they're all connected and clean etc.

A common problem is... I can't remember, but it's the 'aerial amplifier' or something like that.  Sorry I can't be more specific!

It's worth plugging it in to vcds (a diagnostic tool) to check the radio.  I suspect that the aerial amplifier is buggered though.  I can't help any more than that I'm afraid as it hasn't happened to me, I'm just going on what some other saloon drivers have experienced!

Yep all versions of vagcom will work on a 2002 A4

Golf has now gone. Modded the A4 130 TDi Sport with Votex kit, custom grill, tints, 18's, joey'd lights, HIDs and ambient and puddle lighting so far.

Either open the program and click Auto Scan and choose 8E B6/B7 from the drop down box, or open the program, click Select, click 56-Radio, then Fault Codes.

Then go here and find the code as it's quite useful.

Cool, I think it's worth doing the Auto Scan as it checks the whole car - make sure the ignition is on & don't be surprised when a big red brake symbol appears on the dash, accompanied by beeps... it's normal!

Try going into each controller separately and deleting the codes.  I find that when I choose 'Clear Codes' from the auto scan, nothing is deleted.

    Alarm triggered - don't worry

Positioning motors - don't worry unless you're getting differing temperatures from the left/right vents

Doors - clear and see if they come back, my driver's door does it once in a blue moon.  Maybe check the door wiring in the rubber gromet ting near the hinge.

Engine start blocked - obviously no problem now.

Key signal - low battery in remote, change it.  Recode key (if needed) by unlocking car with key, put key in ignition, turn ignition on, hold unlock on remote for 5sec, ignition off, door closed and click lock on remote... always works for me.

High pressure sensor - heard about that, but no idea about it, sorry.

Internal control module - Not sure what module this is, what section of vagcom was it in?  Is the part number 8E0 907 279 X? (X could be B,C,D,E or F)  If so, do all your electrics work ok?  Does your car have bulb warnings on the display?

the module is in adress 37 ,controller, component :bns 4.2 ho5 bno 0008 if that helps at all

i will plug in again tom and do as u said clear the codes in each section

cheers for the info so far lee

It's your sat nav that's causing that fault code then, but I have no idea how to sort it.  I would say go into address 37, click coding, and wait for vagcom to come up with the little bubble telling you which numbers you need, you know, it might say 1= DIS active, 0= DIS inactive - that kind of thing.  Make sure that it's coded properly and remove the fault code.

It's really not that hard or complicated, give it a go... at least click onto the screen so you can see what I mean.  The only fault in the radio is that dodgy coding, so fixing that may fix the reception issue.  IF not, my money would be on the aerial amplifier - but not seeing the car, I can't say for sure!

Just go into 37 Radio and click Coding. Wait 5 seconds and a speech bubble will pop up with how to change your code and what you should change it to. Your code will depend on what features your car has. Write down the original code that is displayed, just in case you need to put it back. Let me know bow you get on, it's a pretty simple thing to do (though I would say that, I've done it loads of times!) Good luck!

Here's a vague thread about the pressure switch... http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?p=2045927

And maybe recoding the sat nav will fix the reception issues, but I have no experience with sat nav.  Pop into a local vw/audi specialist and see what they say.

Glad all the others went - re-scan in a month and see what comes back.  I'd bet money on the doors!

Has anyone else found that if you turn the heated rear window the radio reception gets really bad, or is this just me?

Re the rear window demister, i have found that having this on effects the radio signal drastically. I was wondering if an earth may have come loose behind the stereo.

I cant get my aircon to switch on as the econ light wont go off. Does it just need a re gas or is there a more underlying problem???

re the aircon. Its quite normal for the aircon compressor to go into a 'safe mode' and turn off when the temperature drops below about 3-4 degrees so it doesnt damage itself.  If its off all the time it would suggest that its running low on gas.

    Hope that helps, Matt
