    Hi Guys,

Just signed up, looks like a neat forum! Im a GTI Driver! for the past 5 years plus! But in those 5 years ive picked up points, a wife, kids and a house! So time to swap the GTI for a TDI!!!!!
Just cant make my mind up on what to go for? A Passat, Superb or an A4 B6 TDi Avant....

The Audi looks the best and probably is in everyway! apart from the cost!

But what the hell! now i know im going for an Audi, its which one....

Definately the sport, but Quattro or 2wd? decision decisions! Please help and advise all....

Enough of me chatting, over to you guys......

    P.s. Thanks.....Smile

I've driven all 3 mate, and the superb is a real boat to drive. If an a4 I'd go for the 1.9 tdi 130bhp. Quattro guys might dissagree with me here, but in general everyday non spirited driving you don't need the quattro.
Do you really like it? Is it is it wicked?

At the end of the day quattro costs you money...not much but a little bit as they drink more fuel than their 2wd bretheren. Having said that you can't beat the cool factor Stick out tongue

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about your illness - I hope that one day soon you will get the red mist and stay faithful to fast cars!!!

I had exactly the same problem - however, I got a sensible car...... but I made sure it had an engine that I could tune incase I got the bug back (which I did on the way home having picked it up!!)

    Around 5k....

I think the A4 Avant Sport 1.9 TDI

But dont know whether to go for the Quattro or not, I do like to drive the car at most times, but at the same time, im not a typical boy racer! hehehe

I know, tell me abt it, feels like a disease! but the time has come, im not young and single anymore.

So, its time to get sensible. well a little......Confused

I probably will do the same, on the drive back home, book in for a remap, Rim upgrade, Sound system upgrade etc....

Just cant help it! Cant be all boring now can we???

There's a good few about in your price range. Just stay away from the "TDV" monikered cars. That's the Audi equivalent of the Diesel Particulate Filter, and you don't wanna do that.

Thanks for the advice guys! Really useful! Anyone recommend an A6, As we are expecting another arrival into the family. I think theyre a bit too big n a little less appealing unlike the A4 Avant? Havnt driven one yet tho, may look at one tommorow????Confused

unless you live in a farm up a dirty muddy track in the yorkshire dales, [or similar] where/what is the need for quattro,

as people have said go for the a4/a4 avant if you need the space, just make sure you get the 130 1.9pd, the 2.5 are in my opinion a waste of time.

Them 130s are great with a map.

Before I had a quattro, I wouldn't have recommended it, but now I have it, I'm not driving a 2wd car again! Handling is immense, esp in the wet!

    I'd say a 1.9 TDI avant quattro.

Higher sometimes, but that could just be in the petrols, depends if the extra is enough to push it up a band over the 2wd.

1.9 TDI definately, but what about when we covered in snow like last year and the never ending rainy days.

Quattro will be getting us out of that mess?

The CO2 is a little higher on the 1.9, about 10g/km, but not sure if it's any more expensive. Worth every penny in my book. I live(d) between 2 hills when it snowed last year & it was hilarious watching everyone else with a 2wd car just got stuck less than half way up - not even a traction control light for me (except for my repeated busts if full throttle!) To buy quattro 'for the snow' is no reason to buy quattro. You buy it for the driving experience. In a corner, feel the grip going, increase the accelerator gently & the car just holds on! Really great. I particularly like doing quick pull aways, especially in the wet, as it surprises a lot of people!
