The multi- tronics weren't great in the early years, and the 4.2 will be tough enough on juice. They are very plush though.
Do you really like it? Is it is it wicked?

Same here.  I already have a Golf PD150 and want a quick family car to replace my MX5 track car.  Been looking at the S4 with the V8 but not sure of the running costs.  That could be the deal breaker for me.  If you are a competent DIY mechanic can these cars be maintained with ease?

VAG-COM 805.0, Hex Can (can do latest Mk V's) around the Reading/Berkshire area. Diagnostics, Fault code clearance, 0-60 and quarter times, data logging for Beer Tokens.

No reason why not Micky, the timing belt would be tricky though.

They will be astronomical compared to an MX5!
