By registering, using or reading uk-audis.net you hereby agree to the following terms and conditions:
You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post
any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar,
hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening,
invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of ANY law.
This is not only harmful, but legal actions can be taken against you.
You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the
copyright is owned by you or you have consent from the owner of the
copyrighted material. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters,
pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also inappropriate to this
forum.
Note that due to the real time nature of this forum, it is
impossible to review all posts as they are made. Please remember that
we do not actively monitor the posted messages and are not responsible
for their content. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness or
usefulness of any information presented, and the messages express the
views of the author, and are not necessarily the views of uk-mkivs.
Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable is
encouraged to notify a moderator for the forum the topic was posted in
immediately. We have the rights to remove objectionable content, within
a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.
This is a manual process, however, so please realise that we may not be
able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. This policy
extends to member profile information as well.
You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and
you agree to indemnify and hold harmless this forum, and any related
websites to this forum. The owners of this forum also reserve the right
to reveal your identity (or any information we have about you) in the
event of a complaint or legal action arising from any information
posted by you.You have the ability, as you register, to choose your
username. We advise that you keep the name appropriate. With this user
account you are about to register, you agree to never give your
password out to another member, for your protection and for validity
reasons. You also agree to NEVER use another member's account to post
messages or browse this forum.
Changes.
The administrators reserve the right to add, modify, or remove any
of these rules at any time without prior notice. Rule changes apply to
past, current and future posts.
Anti-Spam Policy.
uk-mkivs now operates an Anti-Spam policy. This policy has been formed
to steer members away from posting topics, and replies, which degrade
the theme of the forums, contain malicous or derogotary comments and/or
otherwise potray the forums in a negative light. Such topics and
replies include personal message threads and contentious topics which
should be dealt with by other communications means. This is not to say
we will actively delete all threads we deem as spam, but every now and
then some topics do wander and this policy is there to keep things on
track.
With effect immediately - any post(s) identified as being spam will be deleted without warning.
Personal Fueds/flame wars.
Sometimes a forum debate will turn into a personal feud between two (or more) posters. We want to make it perfectly clear that:
1) We will not allow, under any circumstances, this feud to be carried out publicly. The topic(s) will simply be deleted.
2) We will not intervene nor be a judge to personal feuds.
3) We will not offer any of the facilities this website has to offer -
primarily the Private Messaging system - to serve this feud. We ask
that you take the means of communication offline i.e. emails.
It’s obvious why we choose not to allow topics of such nature to
persist. It gives a totally wrong impression of the forums, posters and
general atmosphere. It also leads to a negative ‘slant’ being perceived
and can quickly spiral out of control.
If you send an offensive Private Message to another poster, be it
unsolicited or not, be aware that it is their full right to complain to
us about it, and should we find that PM to be indeed offensive, we will
not allow you to use the PM system, and upon repeated complaints (from
one or all) treat this as any other public issue - we will ban that
user altogether from the website.
Furthermore, in radical situations, when a couple of posters
constantly attack each other or harass each other - in public or via PM
- We will bar BOTH sides from exchanging ANY word on the forum (in
public or via PM) with each other. If they continue to do so, one or
all, they will be banned.
In addition, we will not look at things as a "who started it"
situation. If someone insulted you, you are not absolved for insulting
back. And, if you think someone should be banned and we disagree - then
tough; if we're not convinced about it (and you're welcome to try to
convince us reasonably by private means i.e. email) then it doesn't
license you to take the situation into your own hands and launch a
campaign of harassments against that poster. Insulting him back won't
make us think you're right; it will only make us think you're the
trouble we should be dealing with.
This will NOT be a forum used for personal feuds/flaming.
Moderation.
We reserve the right to moderate any content we (the
team) determine contravenes these rules. While we do not wish to
silence people, and fully believe in freedom of speech, from time to
time content has to be removed. In some cases we do not take these
decisions right away, so there may be a period of time between actions.
Therefore, under no circumstances are you to start a discussion
about it (our decision) in the forum or thread itself. Firstly, it
serves no purpose as no admin will respond to you publicly. Secondly,
it merely instigates pointless arguments over how this BB should be
run. We would like to make it clear: that 'how this forums should be
run' is not open for debate.
Bans and warnings.
Rule breaking may invoke the forum 'warning system' which can result in any member being banned either temporarily or
permanently. If an official warning has been issued, a yellow or red icon will
be displayed in the users avatar/profile to indicate the severity of the warning.
According to the nature of the rule breaking, users will receive a 'yellow' warning for the first two instances of rule breaking. Any
subsequent occurrences may result in the user receiving a temporary or
permanent ban which will be symbolized by a 'red'
warning icon. In severe cases at the discretion of the team, members
may receive an immediate 'red' warning resulting in an instant ban.
Specific details of any bans
and/or warnings will remain the business of the uk-mkivs team and the poster(s)
involved. No other member will receive any information about this, including if
they themselves were the offended party.
We carry out the rules that govern this place in order to preserve
the orderly functionality of this service for the wider audience.
Someone is banned not to punish them (although no doubt the side effect
is that they are punished by it) but rather to remove an obstruction in
uk-mkivs normal daily working.
Therefore, not every 'offence' must or should end in a ban. Of
course this is down the discretion of the team and is not open to
debate.
However, if someone is repeatedly offensive or disruptive then
he/she has no place here. Again, not as a punishment, but, rather as a
measure of removing a cause of constant friction from the forums.
As use of the website is in principal acceptance of these rules that
govern this service (all that have clicked on "I Agree" when they
registered have accepted it), then there is no reason to ban them. If
it seems obvious to us (the team), however, that someone disregards
these rules or casues such disruption, then, as said, they simply do
not belong here. This is not open to discussion and once a decision has
been made it is final.
With reference to the team.
Over the past five years we have seen many discussions re. running
of this website. Nearly all have been negative and some have ended in
disputes involving many members. Therefore we have decided to introduce
an underlying rule that you may not like but we insist on: ALL admins
and moderators on uk-mkivs are to be treated with respect.
We (the Team) are a group of GOOD hard working people, with the very
best of intentions regardless of what you may think, who really put in
many hours a day (and in some cases have done so for a very long time)
to provide a resource for everyone to use. We do not get paid for this
and do this purely in our spare time – for you!
If, however, an administrator/moderator is in your views out of
line, then you are perfectly welcome to complain. But you do it in
PRIVATE and reasonably. We will handle it through our channels, not
yours. And, although some people seem to want to see mud ‘thrown
about’, we can tell you this much: posts that appear to be will be
removed and the line of communication taken through our own channels.
You can ALWAYS make suggestions but you cannot demand, nor publicly
challenge the way this place is run. Remember: this is a private
service, we don't ask you to pay for its upkeep, we are not public
officials and sadly or happily you do not get the chance to elect any
of us.
Posting Guidelines.
In addition to the above General guidelines a set of posting guidelines has also been created.
Please post topics in the correct forum. It takes a lot of time and
effort to run this board and it will make the uk-mkivs team's life a
hell of a lot easier. It means better navigation of the forums for
everyone, and stops the place looking cluttered.
Please try to practise general netiquette. What does this mean? Well
not writing your posts or their subjects ALL IN CAPITALS. This is not
only annoying, but it makes you look like you've got some kind of anger
management problem. Also practice good English, and refrain from using
‘txt’ speak. You're using a keyboard to type with, not a mobile phone
key pad.
A swear word filter is enabled on the forum; this will block various
bad words from posts. However please do not try and get around this by
using exclamation marks or numbers to represent various letters, in
other words 'Cr34t1ve Sp311ing'. This also includes using such text in
the subject lines of posts. We believe that swearing leads to a
'playground' type of atmosphere, and reflects badly on the image of
site. Please help us to keep the forums clean and acceptable to readers
of all ages.
If it is seen it will be removed. Repeated abuse will lead to a temporary, or, total, ban. You have been warned.
Please don't just register for an account and not bother to post. It
will only cause the admin team more headaches come user account review.
Also do not register more than one account per user. If this is found
then both user accounts will be suspended pending investigation.
Signature pictures.
We feel, that with increasing amounts of posts on the forums, its
important to make sure posted content is not distracted in any way.
With the every growing popularity with signature images on forums these
days its important that these do not take over. Therefore we have
enforced a limit of sizes for signature pictures, this is to help keep
the forums looking clean and tidy.
Images: 1 image only,
400 X 125 pixel limit and file size not exceeding 75kb (
click for example)
Text
: No more than three lines of text of any font size. For text of font size 12 and above there is a one-line limit.
Any images observed to be over the limit will be removed. With exception to
Tickerfactory.com images placed in Signatures, which aid forum events promotion etc.
Private Messaging.
Private messaging (or PM for short) allows users to send private
messages to one another via the forum (please note you must be logged
in to use this). There is no limit on messages that can be saved in
your PM inbox.
Avatars.
With the new forum software its now possible to upload, or link to,
your own Avatars. Size limit for Avatars is 80 x 80 pixels and file
size limit for upload is 64k. Avatars which are seen to be abusive,
vulgar, hateful, obscene, profane or sexually oriented will be removed.
Repeated abuse will lead to the Avatar upload system being disabled for
all users.
Forum Specific Rules .
- Group Buys
A Group Buys forum has been opened under the Classifieds section to
encourage users to get group deals from Companies etc. Please use this
section to post Groups Buys, any GB's posted in other forums will be
deleted. All uk-audis.net members can create GB's (although companies
must gain prior permission), but please do your research before
creating the topic. Contact the supplier(s) in question and get all the
relevant information needed. If necessary invite the supplier to
participate on the forum to clarify any points your not sure about. If
the GB doesn't take off, please contact the Moderator for the GB
section and request that the thread be locked. Any fraudulent activity
will be fully investigated and where necessary, reported to the
necessary authorities, with all relevant information of the poster
being passed to said authorities.
- Classifieds (For Sale, Wanted)
Any member can post a topic in the Classifieds section, although please
note that members with a post count less than one hundred (100) and length of membership less than three months will have their
ad(s) rejected. This is to discourage individuals from joining up to
the forum just to post ad's in the classifieds. Please use the section
to sell your own private items. Please keep all items for sale
generally around the VAG subject. Don't try and sell computer equipment
for example. Commercial sales are not allowed, unless under special
agreement with the website administrator. Any unauthorised commercial
topics will be deleted. Advertisers may post ads. The Moderator team
will review all posts and any found to be in breach of the rules would
be removed at the discretion of the Moderator. Any fraudulent activity
will be fully investigated and where necessary, reported to the
applicable authorities with all relevant information of the poster
being passed to said authorities.
- Tuning Forum
The tuning forum has been setup to allow tuning companies and users the
opportunity to discuss products that they offer. Note to Tuners: Please
do not use the forum as a means of advertising. By all means give
details of your product etc. Anything that may be construed as
advertising will be removed at the discression of the forum
Administrator.
Advertising.
Regular advertising is permitted only for banner advertisers.
One-off offers which may benefit our members may be posted in the
Offers and Discounts forum. Any unauthorised advertising will be
removed at the discretion of the team - this includes links in
signatures to companies.
At present uk-audis offer a number of opportunities for companies to
advertise. The first is to take out a banner with us. The banner is an
ideal way to reach members due its active display on all pages within
the uk-audis website. Taking out a banner with us will enable the
option of taking out a dedicated forum to discuss and advertise your
products within the ‘Site Sponsors and Banner Advertisers’ forum, allow
you access to set up Group Buys, and permission to have company links
in signatures. Please contact advertising @ uk-audis.net (removing the
spaces) for more information.
Here at uk-audis.net we make every effort to make your time on the
forum as enjoyable as possible. We believe it's important that we run a
clean and friendly environment on the forum, as this is fast what
uk-audis is becoming recognised for. So in return we would like you,
the user, to abide whenever necessary, to these rules listed. We accept
this is a long list to take on board but please be aware that usage of
this website does constitute acceptance of these rules.
We hope that you will find this forum to be one of the most friendly
and informative Audi boards on the web, and on behalf of the uk-audis
would like to thank everyone for making it the place it is.
Cheers
The uk-audis team
If you have any questions or comments about these forum rules, or,
